Student Competitions

IdeaBounce®

IdeaBounce events are competitions where those who have submitted ideas on the IdeaBounce website to present their ideas and, more importantly, their needs in furthering those ideas.  Each individual presentation must last no more than two minutes, similar to a traditional elevator pitch.  The winners of each event are selected to receive a cash prize and a free meal with the judges, where they can talk over their ideas and needs.

Commercialization Plan Competition

The purpose of the competition is to promote a culture of technology commercialization by increasing awareness of available technologies, developing contacts with entrepreneurs from the Missouri S&T faculty and industry, and by giving students first-hand experience in the technology commercialization process. The competition aims to identify unique product ideas with clear market demand that use innovative technologies.

 Business Plan Competition

An annual event held to promote learning and collaboration leading to the creation of new business ventures. The potential participant pool for the competition includes students in all schools at Missouri S&T, alumni and the local business community. Everyone is invited to participate. However, for a team to qualify for the funding award, it must include one current Missouri S&T student or alumnus.

The goal of the competition is to harness the entrepreneurial potential of the university and the region by utilizing the following tools:

-Collaboration - Provide a forum that networks entrepreneurs with each other within the University and across Rolla
Learning - Provide teams with an enriching educational experience that assists in building their business acumen.
- Funding - Provide a source of seed capital and services for promising new ventures.

Student Venture Fund

The goal of this university-based venture fund is to provide students with real world investment experience through researching and investing in early-stage companies in the region.  The venture fund will be a student-managed fund to invest in student ventures as well as regional growth companies.  This unique program is currently under development at Missouri S&T but it will offer an opportunity for students to identify innovative technologies and consumer trends, both as an entrepreneur and investor.
